Durrës by Bus is a crowdsourced, community venture by expats living or spending time in Durrës. It’s an entirely voluntary effort and should never be confused with an authoritative official information site (hint: there are none)..
If you’ve already tried finding Durrës bus information on sites like Google Maps or the ticket-selling platforms, you’ll likely have noticed the bizarre duplication of routes, inaccurate bus-stop and station locations, or incorrect photos. This site aims to avoid that chaos by talking directly to bus operators and drivers and, often, by riding the buses and recording the stops ourselves. Because most of the services listed here are run by small, sometimes one-man outfits, gathering reliable information is still a work in progress. Until volunteers have collected everything, you should expect unfinished maps, gaps in the timetables, and the occasional missing or extra stop. If you spot an error or have new information, please report it on our Facebook page—your help will make the site more accurate for everyone.
Tickets
On most bus routes, getting a ticket is simply a question of boarding a bus and waiting to be approached by a ticket seller. Make sure you have some LEK coins handy. On intercity routes, it’s technically possible to buy tickets online, but some operators and drivers say they are reluctant to accept digital tickets, so always check with the operator where possible. Since many buses, especially those on smaller routes, have limited seating, it’s advisable to arrive early to ensure a place.
Helpers
Many people have contributed snippets of information on our Facebook page, but special thanks go to Tony Woodall, Jon Foote, Genci Shehu and Silvia Kertusha, who have travelled routes, phoned offices, and interrogated drivers. The highest praise goes to Eneida Hoxhaj, who spent long afternoons collecting data at Durrës Bus Station and without whom the project would probably never have got moving.
